Swashbuckler

Updated November 1, 2026

SYSTEM NOTE: SWASHBUCKLER

Charm, steel, and a deeply inappropriate sense of timing. You flirt mid-duel, climb anything with a rope on it, and stab whoever misses you. The System would like to remind you that the dungeon has no ships. You have never let that stop you.

Parent class: Rogue
Feature levels: 3, 9, 13, 17

Features

Level 3 — Duelist’s Step

After you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, that creature cannot make opportunity attacks against you for the rest of that turn.

Level 3 — Seize the Moment

Add your Charisma modifier, minimum 0, to initiative. Once per Short or Long Rest, use a Bonus Action to gain Advantage on your next melee weapon attack that turn.

Level 9 — Cutting Remark

As a Bonus Action, choose a creature within 30 feet that can hear and understand you. It makes a Wisdom save against 8 + PB + Charisma modifier. On failure, its next attack roll before the end of its next turn has Disadvantage. PB uses.

Level 13 — Rigging Runner

Gain Climb Speed equal to your Speed and Advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks.

Level 17 — Perfect Riposte

When a creature within reach misses you with a melee attack, use your Reaction to make a melee weapon attack with Advantage against it. Once per Short or Long Rest.

Notes

This is an original adaptation, not a reproduction of a published D&D subclass.

Sneak Attack still requires its normal conditions.
